The Laybolt Family
Our Story:
My nuclear family lives together in Fanning Brook starting with my father, Robbie Hendricken, mother, Jennifer Hendricken, sister, Bailey and myself, Meranda. My father works out west in Alberta and is only home for roughly eight days of every month. When he is home, we are a close family. Something we like to as a family is play Wii and watch TV in the evenings. Having him working out west is hard but it has to be this way. As of now, we

have never lived anywhere else but it is something that may be approaching in the future.

We have taken two big family trips that both required flights. That was to Toronto and Varadero, Cuba. They were big highlights and fun experiences that we did as a family. During our trip to Toronto in the summer of 2011, we visited the CN Tower, Niagara Falls, and Marine Land. My favorite part of that trip was getting to pet a beluga whale at Marine Land. This trip was five days and there was never a dull moment. While we were up there, we also spent time with my father’s sister, Molly-Ann.
Our second family trip took us all the way to Cuba. This was mine and my sister’s first time out of Canada. The flight was a long four hours and we stayed at a resort named Iberostar Tainos in Varadero. This vacation was a week long and we did one excursion that was absolutely incredible. We took a boat out to the middle of the ocean went swimming with dolphins. The dolphins took us for a swim while we held their fins, give and receive kisses from the dolphins. The excitement didn’t end there; ten people from my group got the opportunity to be lifted into the air on top of two dolphin’s noses. I’m so happy I participated in this activity because it was amazing.

My extended family is relatively close, the majority live in Morell or the Fanning Brook area. My family is all the same ethnicity, which is Caucasian. Some of my family lives elsewhere but the family I’m close with doesn’t extend out of PEI. Nobody in particular is ‘head of the clan’ in my family; they don’t feel the need to overpower the others. As far as I know, there are no famous relatives that come from my family. If there is, they’re very distant relatives.

My family is very easy-going as long as you don’t get on their bad side; if you do, watch out! This is something I admire about them because I have inherited the same traits and we don’t let anyone push us around.
They are also very entertaining, in a way that there is never a dull moment when they're together. Gossiping is a big part of their day and this is in no way a negative characteristic.
