Ambrose Laybolt

Ambrose was born in West St. Peter’s, at home, on June 14th, 1946. He lived with his parents in West St. Peter’s and also attended school in this area in a school house. Ambrose went to school until he was in Grade Seven or Eight.

When he was old enough, he left home and went to Ontario. While he was there he found work at a service station. Once he had enough of this change, he moved back to Prince Edward Island. It was at this time that he met Yvette Nowlan. They got married on June 19th, 1971.

He started fishing with his brother, Francis, for a little while. When fishing season was over, he went to work with Walter‘Babe’ McAdam as a plumber. He left plumbing and got a job at the rink in Morell and at this time he and Yvette had already had two children.

Ambrose bought his own fishing gear and has been fishing ever since. He mainly fishes lobster and tuna as of now. Over the years he has fished all sorts of creatures in the sea and has gone through roughly five boats.

A hobby Ambrose still loves to do is ride his motorcycle. He has owned several Harley's and takes great pride im them. You will almost never see his motorcycle dirty, he always has it polished. He was in an accident once, and only once. At this time he rode off his bike.

Yvette (Nowlan) Laybolt

Yvette was born in Paquet Ville, New Brunswick, on November 24th, 1948. She lived in New Brunswick with her family until she was nine years old and then she moved to PEI.

When she first came to Prince Edward Island, she lived in New Zealand, PEI. She attended school in a school house there until she moved again. This time she moved to Clear Spring and went to school on the Souris Line RD. until Grade Eight. This was the end of her education.

When Yvette first came to PEI, she absolutely hated it. Other then the fact that she couldn't speak a lick of English, she went from a home where she had electricity to no electrcity. Of course the rural places in PEI had power, but not up East were Yvette's new home was.

Once she became old enough to get her first job, she worked at the fish plant, East Pact, in Souris. After she left this job, she went down to Morell to work at New Start, a day care.

She has worked in so many different places, she's lost count. She is a very skilled woman and worked hard all her life.

When she was in the Morell area, she met Ambrose and got married to him and had two children, Robbie and Jennifer Laybolt. After having kids she worked at two major places, Wyman’s Blueberry Plant and Red Head Fish Plant. She is currently working with Ambrose, lobster fishing.
